It takes about 6 weeks to make a handmade rug. Handmade rugs are made by one, three or five weavers depending on the length of the carpet. A rug runner with a dimension of 1 meter wide and 4 meters length is made by 5 weavers. A rug of 2 meters by 160 cm and 3 meters by 2 meters are made by 3 persons.

Weavers sit beside the carpet loom next to the eachother and they weave the same pattern. Each weaver works in an area of 100 -110 cm of the carpet.

Rug is rotated down the loom so weavers have always easy access on the loom to keep working. As previously mentioned it takes about 6 weeks to complete the rug. Comparing the handmade carpets to machine made there is an incredible amount of time, effort and patience by the weavers. Therefore this insdustrie should be always supported by goverment policies so that the weavers can be paid according to the hours + skillsrequired. At present this does not happen.
